African Philantropists Closing Gender Gap APF

The African Philanthropy Forum is a strong and vibrant community of partners who through their strategic giving, investments and influence, foster shared prosperity on the African continent with a vision of transforming the culture of giving on the continent to the extent that it exceeds development aid by 2030. (USD 42bn FDA in 2017, source: UNCTAD Report)

The African Philanthropy Forum (APF) was established in 2014 to build a learning community of strategic African philanthropists and social investors committed to inclusive and sustainable development throughout the Continent.

Over the years, APF has established a stronger presence on the Continent, with footprints in Egypt, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda, through its regional meetings and conferences. The APF has also invested in the development of the Toolkit for African Philanthropists and the “Why Give” Series, which consists of interviews with Africa's strategic philanthropic leaders to showcase their motivations for giving.

Since becoming an independent entity, APF has reached over 950 philanthropists and social investors in Africa and across the world, bringing the total number to over 1400 since 2014.

The theme for this year's industry convention is: “Digital broadcasting – Promoting Our Values, Enriching Our Lives“, and the Convention will also incorporate the 29th Annual General Meeting of the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association – SABA.

13th African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment Conference - AARSE

The 13th AARSE International Conference, AARSE 2022, Earth Observations and Geospatial Science in service of Sustainable Development Goals will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, organized by Ines-Ruhengeri from 24th October to 28th October, 2022.

This conference under the theme Space and geospatial technologies for the Africa we want will be a major event in the African and international community of Earth observation and geo-spatial information science in 2020; it will be organized by the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE) and the Institut d'Enseignement Supérieur de Ruhengeri (Ines-Ruhengeri). AARSE is a non-political scientific organization. Its primary objective is to increase the awareness of African governments and their institutions, the private sector and society at large, about the empowering and enhancing benefits of developing, applying and responsibly utilizing the products and services of Earth Observation Systems and Geo-information Technology. AARSE membership includes professional individuals, institutions and national associations from all Africa and worldwide working in domains related to remote sensing, photogrammetry, and geographical information science.

The main objective of AARSE 2020 is to bring together scholars and professionals from the African and international community to present latest achievements, discuss challenges and share experiences in Space and geospatial technologies. The conference program will feature keynote speeches delivered by leading policy makers, scholars, technical sessions with reports of the latest research outcomes, discussion sessions on operational topics such as capacity building, Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), space policy, programmes and projects, as well as commercial exhibitions showing latest products and services in remote sensing and geospatial information technologies.

Paper selection is based on abstract and full paper peer review following the guidelines provided in the “Call for Paper” document that can be downloaded from the conference website below.

Bio - Supply Chain Management Alliance 2022 (BSMA)

BSMA announced at the 15th Annual Conference on June 22-23 in Foster City, CA, its commitment to help build the supply chain of healthcare in the continent of Africa. 145th Inter Parliament Union (IPU) GA

At the invitation of the Parliament of the Republic of Rwanda, the 145th Assembly of the IPU and its related meetings will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, from Tuesday, 11 to Saturday, 15 October 2022.

All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs, will convene during this Assembly.
The General Debate will focus on the overall theme of Gender equality and gender-sensitive parliaments as drivers of change for a more resilient and peaceful world -and provide a platform for delegates to deliberate, exchange views and galvanize parliamentary action in this area.

The Assembly will adopt resolutions on the emergency item and on the subject item taken up by the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights entitled Parliamentary impetus to local and regional development of countries with high levels of international migration and to stopping all forms, including state-sponsored, of human-trafficking and human rights abuses. The Governing Council will examine and adopt a number of decisions, including on cases of violation of the human rights of parliamentarians. The Assembly is expected to conclude with the adoption of an outcome document on the overall theme of the General Debate.
